There is an enormous number of Sales and Negotiation Skills courses, books, podcasts, TED talks, lectures, articles etc. out there in English. However, if a person doesn’t have the English language skills to ‘deep dive’ into this information, these resources cannot be used effectively.

It doesn’t surprise us that most of the international clients and businesses we work with at English FIT want the language first and the theoretical understanding second.

Reflecting on what our Sales and Negotiation Skills course program should look like on paper, we realised that context is key. It’s within context that we understand business culture, intercultural competence, social etiquette, gender relationships, emotional intelligence, personal expertise, and not least, socio-cultural norms when relationship building and networking. Within just these areas alone, the English language required is specific and considered.

Our Sales and Negotiation Skills program incorporates this specialised language while focusing on the client and their business. We focus on developing English language skills to increase our client’s sales confidence, deepen professional relationships and negotiate effectively.

We do this by: 

  • Incorporating the client’s business products, services, features and benefits into our learning activities
  • Exploring ways in which to build immediate rapport with clients (including developing skills in intercultural competence and social etiquette)
  • Expanding vocabulary and using various types of conversation starters which lead to sales conversations, solution and value-based decision making
  • Asking the right questions to identify competitor advantage
  • Developing Speaking and Listening skills using role-plays
  • Exploring the structure and dynamics of storytelling to support sales pitches
  • Recording and videoing conversations and presentations and receiving coach feedback.

Our course program structure is as follows:

SALES & NEGOTIATION SKILLS

From groundwork to sale

  • Building rapport and long-term relationships with clients (considering intercultural competence, social norms and etiquette)
  • Question forms to determine client needs
  • Describing your products and services and identifying your competitor advantage
  • Quantifying value and offering solution-based advice
  • Insight selling

Skills Focus: Speaking, Listening, Writing, Pronunciation, Business English.

Full program (10 hours – $1,000): Sales and Negotiation Skills contains 5 focus areas. Each focus area is designed to be delivered in 2-hour sessions. However, this timeframe is variable according to client’s needs.

Workshops: (2 hours – $200): Choose a topic and focus area that suits your goals.
